{"id":8909,"date":"2012-11-28T20:29:07","date_gmt":"2012-11-28T19:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/confettidigital.com\/?p=358"},"modified":"2020-07-06T00:37:36","modified_gmt":"2020-07-06T00:37:36","slug":"confetti-from-police-files-tossed-at-macys-parade-daily-record-dailyrecord-com-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/so-confetti.com\/confettidigital\/confetti-archive\/confetti-from-police-files-tossed-at-macys-parade-daily-record-dailyrecord-com-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Confetti from police files tossed at Macy&#8217;s parade | Daily Record | dailyrecord.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif\">Shredded Long Island police records that landed on spectators at Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day parade were brought by a department employee who tossed the confidential confetti with his family, a New York TV station reports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif\">Among the easily identifiable records from the Nassau County Police Department were what appears to be details of Mitt Romney\u2019s motorcade route to and from the final presidential debate at Hofstra University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif\">Confetti collected by spectators near 65th Street and Central Park West also contained arrest records, incident reports and personal information and that identified undercover officers, WPIX-TV says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif\">\u201cThere are phone numbers, addresses, more Social Security numbers, license plate numbers,\u201d said Ethan Finkelstein, 18, of Manhattan, who gathered up some of the confetti with friends. \u201cAnd then we find all these incident reports from police.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif\">He gave the confetti to police, who continue to investigate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif\">Sources told WPIX, which broke the story Friday, that the files came from the Nassau County Police Academy and that protection has been offered to all officers whose identifies were revealed. Police would not identify the employee who brought the confetti to the parade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif\">\u201cThe Nassau County Police Department is very concerned about this situation,\u201d Inspector Kenneth Lack said. \u201cWe will be conducting an investigation into this matter as well as reviewing our procedures for the disposing of sensitive documents.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif\">Instead of strip-cutting shredders, Nassau police may buy cross-cutting machines that would dice files into small pieces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif\">For the record, Macy\u2019s is not guilty.
